Our Core Values
We Value
THE GREAT COMMISSION:
Mission is not something we do, it is who we are. Evangelism and missions are the driving, motivating, directing passion of this Christian community. Therefore, our calling to "Go and make disciples" (Matthew 28:19-20) is also the value that decisively shapes all other values that follow.
We Value
FRIENDSHIP:
Friendship is a core value because it is, first of all, a key to our strategy for sharing with others the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. We touch other's lives first through genuine friendship; establishing a relationship of trust and caring. To be "friends for life" each one of us must learn to cultivate and reflect the open, accepting, servant-heart of Jesus in our interactions with "pre-Christians" or unbelievers. Our goal is, through our words and actions, to bring others into a saving relationship with Jesus… one friend at a time.
We Value
COMMUNITY:
Our community "connectedness" happens primarily in small Basic Christian Communities. Here, in "cells" (small groups of 3 to 12 people), we gather as friends around the Presence, Power and Purpose of Christ. Everything we do at Alleluia is to support and enhance what happens in the cell communities. Throughout the entire community of believers we constantly strive for unity of purpose, humility, mutual forgiveness, and the fostering of healing and reconciliation under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Additionally, we gather in the larger worshipping, celebrating community around the presence of Christ in the Word and sacraments. Numerous cells come together to celebrate God's amazing grace and to be nurtured by the dynamic worship of a larger gathering. Community - the Body of Christ - is experienced in its corporate context… a foretaste of the feast to come!
We Value
A WELL MOBILIZED LAITY:
We affirm the biblical principle of the priesthood of all believers; that all Christians are called to ministry in their baptism. We therefore value and aspire toward a well-equipped laity that is passionate about bringing the lost to Jesus. To that end we shall mentor/equip every believer for becoming an active disciple in Christ's mission. We shall strive to help each believer in the process of discovering and using his or her unique God-given gifts for ministry. We shall prayerfully seek and raise up godly leaders who will then be mentored and equipped for servant-leadership in the church.
We Value
CHANGED LIVES:
Wherever the Word of the Gospel is shared lives will be changed. Word (written, spoken and living) and sacrament (Baptism and The Lord's Supper) are primary tools God uses to initiate faith, transform and nurture the lives of His people. The Body of Christ (in the cell and celebration), is the necessary context.
We Value
CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION:
Because we live in a diverse and rapidly changing culture we believe that we must be ready to use every possible means at our disposal to bring the saving Gospel of Jesus to our community. We therefore value creativity and innovation as we seek to be faithful to our calling as disciples of Jesus.
We value
AUTHENTICITY:
People generally value and appreciate authenticity in others. In fact, much harm has been done to the witness of the Gospel by Christians who "talk the talk," but fail to "walk the walk." People need to see the power of Christ lived out in our lives. They need to see the church as a place where sinners can come and have a real relationship with God and one another. There is no need for masks or any form of hypocrisy, for we all are sinners living under the grace of God. As such, we are free to live authentic lives; learning to love and forgive even as we have been loved and forgiven.
We Value
PASSIONATE SPIRITUALITY:
We want to encourage and enable everyone connected with the mission of Alleluia to live committed lives and to practice their faith with joy and enthusiasm. Passionate spirituality is the life of faith in a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ. As we place our lives before the Presence, Power and Purpose of Christ, we will become transformed, renewed and empowered for works of ministry. Passionate spirituality is like a brush fire. Its enthusiasm moves and grows from the inside out. It is contagious. It will not be contained. It must be shared with others!
